Cambridge-based Ablatus Therapeutics Limited has been awarded £1.4m by the UK government’s Innovate UK to develop its next-generation, minimally-invasive treatment for soft tissue tumours. The award will fund a 2-year project to develop the prototype device into a final version for use in patients for the first time.

Medtech Accelerator, a joint venture between innovation hub Health Enterprise East (HEE), Eastern AHSN (Academic Health Science Network) and regional business partners to support medtech pioneers, has announced an award of £125,000 to Cambridge-based company NeutroCheck, to progress development of an at-home safety monitoring test for chemotherapy patients.

A pioneering endoscopic surgical device, backed by the Medtech Accelerator, has been licensed to medical device company Medovate who will be responsible for bringing it to market. The new device, ENDOVAC, has the potential to dramatically improve survival of patients with life threatening infection following a leak from the upper gastrointestinal (GI) tract whilst significantly enhancing current treatment methods.
